Notes: Brand New from Publisher. No Remainder Mark.
This book has a totally different approach to anger compared to other Self-Help books. It has examples which look at intimate relationships which affect every woman's life- with spouse, parents and in-laws. It looks at the bigger picture like needing independence from parents, like drawing boundaries with in-laws, like forming triangles within families, and many other issues which every woman deals with. The author even recognizes the fact that a woman who looks subservient on the surface may actually be assertive. I need to read it again in order to be able to apply to my life. It was a very interesting book, very different from anything I have ever read. So I have ordered all her other books. However I would like to stress a cautionary note. It doesn't help you with the details of communication.

The Dalai Lama's medieval circus took flight from its paradisiacal kingdom amidst the cold and feudal Himalayan Mountains (a glimpse of Shangri-La), only to land in sunny side California; a Guru's paradise of psychedelic openness, narcissistic personality disorder and transcendental entrepreneurism.
In this spiritual time bomb of American excess, you will find nihilistic death worship for dummies (please insert the latest nihilistic mystical celebrity fad), hang out with charismatic Budweiser Lama's, such as his charismatic-ness Chogyam Trungpa and witness Tibetan scholar Robert Thurman jumping into the octagon, ready to fight for the truth of the in-between bardo states. He's a true believer you see; the super heavyweight champion of true believers. This is all good though, because it brings a startlingly sincere passion and vividness to Mr Thurman's work.
Though not as poetically driven and scholarly as the newer Penguin translation, Thurman's is written in good plain (graspable) English, he also has the knack of explaining difficult concepts and his is the more readable of the various translations. (I think the Penguin will probably suit people who are at home with Heidegger).
Thurman, it seems, is convinced of the ontological validity of the bardo realms. No metaphors here please. What do you mean no metaphors? I hear you cry. I thought the realms described in the Bardo Thödol were just topological manifolds of the human psyche? Surely those nice Tibetan's don't mean to frighten us? Thurman thinks we shouldn't be so naive. He believes that the in-between places, with the angry, mad Gods (Devas), the ravenous thirsty ghosts (pretas, who try to eat your feet) and the juvenile God-like Titans (Ashuras), are as real as the horrors swimming around inside the Popes imagination. So if you want cheery metaphors then run along to the Penguin edition, with its beautiful poetry, vivid artwork and weighty scholarship, you will be better off and less worried!
Padma sambhava's luminous axioms are apparently true for all time you see and because Thurman is a true believer, his commentaries add extra weight and so this book is the authentic deal. He really believes man, which I think is reassuringly weird, and no matter what you yourself may believe, you can't help but to be impressed by the shear gravity and sophistication of Tibetan metaphysics. Cardinal Ratzinger once described Buddhism as being a masturbation of the intellect. Well I say lets masturbate away! Plus the artwork included in here is impressive indeed.
Robert Thurman's version then is for the workers and lumpen Buddha's of this world. We need an honest to God rendition of the Way and its power; not a cerebral analytic scholar talking about psychoanalysis, metaphors and the Hell realms being mere metaphors bah blah. Thurman is a brilliant fanatic you see (in the best sense of the word) and 'tis the one eyed sears who command respect in my book. No wonder he named his daughter after a Tibetan goblin!
NEW! The Photoshop Elements 8 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter) with Free shipping
Effect::: This book (for Windows and Mac) breaks new ground by doing something for digital photographers that’s never been done before—it cuts through the bull and shows you exactly “how to do it.” It’s not a bunch of theory; it doesn’t challenge you to come up with your own settings or figure things out on your own. Instead, it does something that virtually no other Elements book has ever done—it tells you flat-out which settings to use, when to use them, and why. If you’re looking for one of those “tell-me-everything-about-the-Unsharp-Maskfilter” books, this isn’t it. You can grab any other Elements book on the shelf, because they all do that. Instead, this book gives you the inside tips and tricks of the trade for organizing, correcting, editing, sharpening, retouching, and presenting your photos like a pro. You’ll be absolutely amazed at how easy and effective these techniques are—once you know the secrets.
You’ll learn:
The real secrets of how the pros retouch portraits
How to color correct any photo without breaking a sweat (you’ll be amazed at how they do it!)
How to use Camera Raw for processing not only RAW photos, but JPEGs and TIFFs, too! (And you’ll learn why so many pros like it best— because it’s faster and easier)
The sharpening techniques the pros really use (there’s an entire chapter just on this!)
How to deal with common digital camera image problems, including removing noise and avoiding halos
The most requested photographic special effects, and much more!
The Book's Secret Weapon Although Elements 8 offers some digital photography features that Photoshop CS4 doesn’t offer, there are plenty of features that Photoshop CS4 has that Elements 8 still doesn’t have (things like paths, Channel Mixer, etc.). But in this book, you’ll learn some slick workarounds, cheats, and some fairly ingenious ways to replicate many of those Photoshop features from right within Elements. Plus, since this book is designed for photographers, it doesn’t waste your time talking about how to frame a shot, setting your exposure, etc., and there’s no talk about which camera or printer to buy. It’s all Elements, step-by-step, cover-to-cover, in the only book of its kind! User friendly.

I am a hobbyist photographer who has used Irfanview almost exclusively for editing photos. However I recently bought this book and Elements 8.0 at the same time. WOW! There is a steep learning curve. Scott doesn't pull any punches and, as he admits in the intro, he doesn't try to teach the "easy" stuff (as he says, this book is "the funk and not the junk"). BUT, the stuff he does teach is highly valuable. As a complete newbie to Elements, there is a very steep learning curve. However, there are lots of tutorials at the Adobe website to teach the basics (look for AdobeTV). What this book did was taught me the real fine points, in a practical and step by step manner. And it's not just a little bit of information, it's a TON of info... I keep going back to the book and trying different stuff with my photos: how to make a better grayscale, how to "polish" a studio shoot, how to do HDR in Elements, several different ways of sharpening and of removing blemishes, etc...
I have never commented on a book on Amazon before but this one was so good I decided to!

Perennial Combinations: Stunning Combinations That Make Your Garden Look Fantastic Right from the Start (Rodale Garden Book)Feature for this item
Being pretty new to perennials but having read many books I was having sort of a writers block when it came to WHAT to put in my new garden.
I knew all about HOW but with so many choices I was overwhelmed!
This book has a good number of templates to give you a jump start and many outstanding photos of combinations of flowers that work together. In fact this has some of the best photos I have ever seen in a garden book.
It also covers difficult situations like what works in Heavy Clay and wet sites an so forth.
My plan was a butterfly garden and they had the perfect template for a 12x8 garden.
Excellent book for beginners or people that are looking for new combinations!! My fav book so far. (out of the 30 I have looked at).

I read the first five Darren Shan books as they came out in 2002 wen I was 12 years old and I really enjoyed them - in my opinion they are just as good as Harry Potter - but never got around to reading past the fifth book, even thought I had bought books six, seven and eight too.
A couple of days ago I was looking through my old books and saw this series and decided to give it a go - and I was very impressed! I am sixteen now so usually read adult horror (Dean Koontz, Stephen King etc) but I still enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed Darren Shan books when I was 12 - they are fast paced and gory, and quite funny in places too.
This book continues with the cliffhanger ending where the previous book in the series - The Trails of Death - ended, with Darren going down the stream of Vampire Mountain. I wont say what happens to him through the rest of the book as I dont want to spoil it for others but there was suspence ans action all the way through and I ended up reading the whole thing in one go.
Another great entry in Darrens Shans vampire saga which I would highly recomend. I think it would be a great read for everyone but in particular for boys who are around 12 years old. (if you have not read any Darren Shan books than I recomend you start with the first book, Cirque Du Freak, as it is a series and the books continue on from each other).

NEW! Lost Scriptures: Books that Did Not Make It into the New Testament with Free shipping
Effect::: While most people think that the twenty-seven books of the New Testament are the only sacred writings of the early Christians, this is not at all the case. A companion volume to Bart Ehrman's Lost Christianities, this book offers an anthology of up-to-date and readable translations of many non-canonical writings from the first centuries after Christ--texts that have been for the most part lost or neglected for almost two millennia. Here is an array of remarkably varied writings from early Christian groups whose visions of Jesus differ dramatically from our contemporary understanding. Readers will find Gospels supposedly authored by the apostle Philip, James the brother of Jesus, Mary Magdalen, and others. There are Acts originally ascribed to John and to Thecla, Paul's female companion; there are Epistles allegedly written by Paul to the Roman philosopher Seneca. And there is an apocalypse by Simon Peter that offers a guided tour of the afterlife, both the glorious ecstasies of the saints and the horrendous torments of the damned, and an Epistle by Titus, a companion of Paul, which argues page after page against sexual love, even within marriage, on the grounds that physical intimacy leads to damnation. In all, the anthology includes fifteen Gospels, five non-canonical Acts of the Apostles, thirteen Epistles, a number of Apocalypes and Secret Books, and several Canon lists. Ehrman has included a general introduction, plus brief introductions to each piece. This important anthology gives readers a vivid picture of the range of beliefs that battled each other in the first centuries of the Christian era.User friendly.

Lost Scriptures: Books that Did Not Make It into the New TestamentFeature for this item
I was surprised to learn of the variety of interpretations of Jesus and his teachings that were found in Middle Eastern scrolls buried for nearly two thousand years. This is a very scholarly but easily understood compilation of many books that were excluded for a variety of reasons from the New Testament canon. The renowned historian Bart Ehrman and others translated these ancient scriptures from the oldest known Greek, Coptic, Arameic, and Latin texts. An exciting eye-opener for me.

These volumes contain digests of the great books. The following is from the introduction of Volume 1:
"In THE WORLD'S GREATEST BOOKS an attempt has been made to effect a compendium of the world's best literature in a form that shall be at once accessible to every one and still faithful to its originals; or, in other words, it has been sought to allow the original author to tell his own story over again in his own language, but in the shortest possible space.
An important additional feature of the work is the brief, yet highly critical biographical and bibliographical note which accompanies every author "
These volumes might be called the "Cliff Notes" collection.
